DENTAL CLEANING

Healthy Smiles of Abington offers its patients a variety of hygienic and wellness procedures. Among them is professional dental cleaning using the ultrasonic cleaning technique, as well as fluoride treatment of teeth.

Formation of tartar/calculus and stains on the teeth enamel is a particularly topical problem today. Dentists constantly warn about unacceptability of considering calculus formation as just an aesthetic problem, as ignoring it may lead to unpleasant consequences and development of serious diseases.

Dental calculus not only harming teeth, but also harms periodontium, being the prerequisite to such unpleasant diseases like tooth decay, periodontitis, gastrointestinal disorders and even progression of anemia. Therefore, timely removal of calculus and regular preventive examination by a dentist are so essential (at least every six months)

DENTAL CLEANING STAGES

Oral hygiene methods may vary and be used in combination, depending on the patient’s case. Cleaning stages can be combined with each other or performed individually.

STAGE 1 - Ultrasonic cleaning.

Calculus and plague are removed at the stage of ultrasonic teeth cleaning. Water flow is turned to teeth through a special tip emitting ultrasonic vibrations and even the most solid debris are washed out carefully.

STAGE 2 - Manual teeth cleaning.

Where the hygienist cannot physically reach the stains, special tools are used, like scaler, curette etc. Manual cleaning allows for removal of stains even in the most hard-to-access places!

STAGE 3 - Teeth polishing.

On completion of the cleaning procedure, the teeth are polished. It is done using a special abrasive paste and brushes. This process helps to protect teeth from further development of stains. All you need is to practice good oral hygiene until the next visit to the dentist (within six months).

STAGE 4 - Fluoridation.

Fluoridation is a final (and optional) stage of teeth cleaning. Special gel with useful micro-elements is applied on the polished teeth, forming a protective film and sealing micro-cracks on teeth, strengthening dental enamel and reducing the risk of tooth decay.

Imagine, that within just an hour you will get rid of calculus and your smile will become brighter!
Great, right?
